Call for hosting ISHAM
2018

Council is seeking expressions of interest
from National Mycological Societies to host ISHAM’s international congress in
the spring of 2018. Expressions of interest should be submitted before the
closing date of December 31st this
year to the General Secretary J Peter Donnelly.
Joint bids may only be made by societies
based in countries that are geographically adjacent
The expression of interest should be
incorporated into a signed and dated letter of not more than 250 words and
should include the following:
- the National Society or Groups of
Societies that is submitting the bid. (In the case of a joint bid the
motivation must be clearly stated)
- the composition of the local
organising committee
- the conference organizing company
that has been selected
- a brief track record in organising
international meetings
- the proposed venue and briefly why it
has been chosen
- the anticipated number of registrants
- any other relevant information
After the deadline, Council will consider
each bid in the light of the information provided and, if necessary, seek
clarification of the details. Organisations that have expressed an interest
will then be notified by January 31st 2015 that their bids have been officially
accepted and they will be asked to prepare a brochure detailing their bid for
circulation to every member of ISHAM and for posting on the ISHAM and ISHAM
2015 websites. Voting will be on line only and will open on April 1st 2015 and close one month later on May 1st 2015. The results will be
announced at the General Assembly and the successful organisation will be
invited to give a 10-minute presentation to the General Assembly at the 2015
Congress in Melbourne.
Nominations for ISHAM
Council 2015 - 2018
Nominations
are being sought for individuals to serve as the President-Elect, General
Secretary, Treasurer and Vice-Presidents. Article 7 of the statutes states that
“The council shall consist of at least eight Members. These are the
President, a President-Elect, at least four Vice-Presidents, a General
Secretary and a Treasurer”. The usual term of office is 3 years in the
first instance. The General Secretary and Treasurer may be re-elected for
several term of offices but Vice-Presidents may only be re-elected for one more
term.

submit nominations before the closing date of December 31st this year to the General Secretary J Peter Donnelly.
Members can
nominate themselves. Each nomination must be supported by two active members
from a different country than that of the nominee. After the deadline, each
nominee will be asked to supply a photograph and a short paragraph, of no more
than 250 words, in which the individual describes his or her career,
involvement in medical mycology, ambitions for ISHAM and the reasons for
standing for election to Council. The information will be posted on the ISHAM
website to assist members in selecting candidates for election. Voting will be
on line only and will open on April 1st 2015 and close one month later on May 1st 2015. The results will be announced at the General Assembly. |
