The 19th ISHAM Congress in Melbourne, Australia, 4-8 May 2015, was a great meeting. The Australian Newzealand Mycology Interest Group (ANZMIG) of the Australasian Infectious Diseases Society (ASID) were the proud host of the meeting. It was run in parallel with the 2015 Mycology Masterclass. Six hundred and sixty seven delegates from 48 countries attended. It was a busy week starting with pre-Congress workshops on the 2nd and 3rd of May with topics as varied as MALDI-TOF, Histopathology, Therapeutic Drug Monitoring, Antifungal Susceptibility Testing and Infections in the Immunocompromised Host. There were many scientific highlights and sessions comprising the 4 themes within the program: clinical, translational, one health and basic science aspects of medical mycology, which were very well attended, featuring 323 oral presentations in 36 symposia, and 439 posters, showcasing high quality original research and state of the art reviews. Further important items about the congress can be found at the ISHAM website.

Medical Mycology: Open access after 12 months! Oxford University Press has very recently informed the new Editor-in-Chief of Medical Mycology, Karl Clemons that all papers in Medical Mycology are now freely accessible after 12 months. That means the archives have been opened up and you can download the papers from PubMed, Web of Knowledge, and more, for free.  We believe this a huge step in the right direction to raising the visibility of Medical Mycology for the wider scientific community.
