The ISHAM Working Group on PCR-based diagnosis of Dermatophytic infections organizes a local Workshop on July 17, 2010 in Athens, Greece. For information, click here.

At the CBS-KNAW Fungal Biodiversity Centre in Utrecht, The Netherlands, a 5-year postdoc position is available for a researcher in the area of the phylogeny, genomics and taxonomy of Hypocrealean fungi, with accent on clinically relevant species. Full information is available here.

A PhD Thesis on melanized fungi has been presented by Hamid Badali at the University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands. A short report of the very successful meeting of the ECMM-ISHAM Working Group on Pseudallescheria / Scedosporium Infections held in Bonn, Germany, last May 2010 can be found here. The website of the Working Group has been renovated, see here. On this website you will also found a photographic report of the meeting, and PDFs of most presentations. We will keep you informed about the special issue of ‘Mycoses’ that is scheduled as outcome of this meeting.

The next international CBS Course Medical Mycology will take place in Utrecht, The Netherlands, 7-17 March, 2011. Full information on the course can be found here and registration can be done here. Students from European countries who wish to have 1-2 wk additional training in collection management and preservation techniques may be referred to the EMbaRC International Access funded by the EU FP7 program (here). This will enable to acquire sponsoring for the entire training period. Timely application for both events is recommended.

Last May 2010 a very successful Black yeast workshop was held in Ljubljana, Slovenia. A short report of this meeting is available here here. We will keep you informed about the special issue of ‘Fungal Biology’ that is scheduled as outcome of this meeting.
