The 5th International Conference on Mycetoma, organized in
cooperation with the ISHAM Mycetoma Working Group, will take place in Khartoum,
Sudan, 1-4 April, 2011. This is a major event in mycetoma research. Full

The 6th
International Medicinal Mushroom Conference, 25-29 September 2011 in
Zagreb, Croatia, now has its website with preliminary program and registration
up and running, see here.
A post-doctoral
position is available at the Institute of Microbiology of the University of
Lausanne, Switzerland, to investigate transcriptional regulation of drug
resistance in the fungal pathogens Candida albicans and Candida glabrata.

The 1st
European Conference on Microbial Communication (MiCom), a graduate
conference, will be organised by the PhD-fellows of the Jena School for
Microbial Communication (JSMC) at the University of Jena, Germany, 28 September
- 1 October 1, 2010. Check the website here.
The
SWESIAQ-ISIAQ first regional conference on Indoor Air Quality and Climate, an update on standpoints in indoor air research and practice in the Nordic
countries, will be organized in Stockholm, Sweden, 2-3 December, 2010. The
conference covers a broad area of topics including microbiology, chemical
exposures, particles, thermal effects, indoor dampness, building practice,
Nordic guidelines and regulations, psychology and health effects. See the

Louis Chai
defended his PhD Thesis entitled "Host-pathogen interaction in Aspergillus infection" at the Radboud University in
Nijmegen, The Netherlands. The entire thesis is freely available in
electronical form for ISHAM members in your ISHAM member area.
The 29th
Annual Meeting of the European Society for Paediatric Infectious Diseases (ESPID) will be held in The Hague, The Netherlands, 7-11 June, 2011. For the

A meeting
on Zygomycetes entitled “The dynamics of zygomycete research in a changing
world” will be organized at the CBS in Utrecht, The Netherlands, 3-5 March,
2011. The meeting will link environmental and clinical aspects. Mark your
calendar; detailed information will be available soon.
The
preliminary program of the 44st Scientific Meeting of the Germanspeaking
Mycological Society (DMYKG), organized jointly with the Austrian Society for
Medical Mycology, is now available here.
The meeting will take place 9-11 September, 2010, in Vienna, Austria. This is
one of the larger meetings in medical mycology, also recommended for English
speaking public.
A book on
pathogenic yeasts has been published by Ruth Ashbee and Elaine Bignell, see here. The book reviews what is
known about their molecular and cellular biology and virulence, in addition to
looking at clinical and laboratory findings. Each chapter is written by a leading expert in the field, and includes
latest developments in Candida, Cryptococcus, Malassezia and yeasts of emerging
importance.
