The ISHAM-affiliated Mycology Study Group are recruiting sites for the phaeohyphomycosis case registry study (MSG-06). The objective is to better understand the clinical syndromes associated with these fungi and how effective current management strategies are in treating these infections. Since these are rare infections, we are looking for 15-25 sites to submit detailed case report data from patients for the next 3 years. If your site is interested in participating, contact Sanjay Revankar, srevankar@med.wayne.edu. more info.

The Brazilian Congress of Infectious Diseases will be organized in Brasilia, Brasil, 24-28 August, with several topics in medical mycology. Click here  for full information.

Applications are invited for the distance learning based BSMM/University College London MSc Diploma/Certificate Course in Medical Mycology. Teaching is provided by the leading UK experts in mycology, by means of DVDs, web-based materials and practical courses, and includes a research project conducted at the student’s home institution. A bursary may be available from the BSMM to support the costs of this course. Details are available here. For info, contact Anne Dickens, a.dickens@medsch.ucl.ac.uk

A CBOL Webinar on Fungal DNA extraction will be organized by Natalia Ivanova on Tuesday, April 19, 2011 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM EDT. This webinar will be presented live using GoToWebinar, an online presentation resource. This webinar will be recorded, and will be posted on Connect for those who are unable to attend the live presentation. Please keep in mind that attendance is limited, but you can always submit your barcoding questions to Natalia Ivanova in advance, using our audience survey.
