Dear , As you all know the next ISHAM congress will take place in Berlin, Germany, see here. This is likely to become the largest congress in medical mycology ever; you certainly have to be there! The venue for the next congress, in 2015 will be decided upon via electronic voting by our members; you will informed in due course. We already received two highly competitive bids. Invitations to host the 19th ISHAM Congress to be held in 2015 must reach the General Secretary (Peter Donnelly) no later than 30th October 2011. Full information can be found here.

After the ISHAM congress in Berlin our Society should have a new Council. Nominations are invited from members of the Society for the following posts for the period 2012-2015:

General Secretary
Treasurer
Peter Donnelly is elegible for re-election as General Secretary, and Bernard Hube, Arunaloke Chakrabarti and Shinichi Watanabe are elegible for re-election as Vice Presidents. The 30th Annual Meeting of the European Society for Paediatric Infectious Diseases will be held in Thessaloniki, Greece, 8-12 May, 2012. Full information is available here.

The 51st Interscience Conference on Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy (ICAAC) will be held in Chicago, Illinois, U.S.A., September 17-20, 2011. A major event for anyone working in the area of anifungals. This is the website.

A closed EMbaRC workshop on Biosecurity will be organized in Utrecht, The Netherlands, 1-2 September, 2011. The program can be found here. We will take care that ISHAM members will be informed about the outcome of this meeting.

The next congress of European Mycologists will be held in Halkidiki, Greece, September 18-23, 2011. For information, click here. Focus is on mushrooms, but there are also sessions on genetics and medical mycology.

The 50-year anniversary of the German language Mycological Society (DMYKG) was celebrated with a nice festive evening in Essen, Germany; a richly illustrated report can be found here. The 9th national conference of the Society for Indian Human and Animal Mycologists (SIHAM) will be held at Siliguri, West Bengal, India, 10-12 February, 2012. Details can be seen at the website . The meeting will be preceded by a workshop on ‘Allergic brochopulmonary aspergillosis in asthmatics' at the same conference site on 9 February, 2012.
