Dear , In order to draw attention from policy makers and international health agencies, a  Global Action Fund for Fungal Infections (GAFFI) was launched, an international organisation set to highlight the plight of 300 million people worldwide and begin to reverse unnecessary death and suffering. The ISHAM Working Group Veterinary Mycology organised a very successful course last November in Nijmegen, The Netherlands. A report of the course and some plans for the Working Group can be found here.

The next meeting of the Israel Society for Medical Mycology (ISMM) will be held in Tel Aviv, on November 14, 2013. Information can be found here

A new journal devoted to case reports has been launched, entitled 'Case Reports in Clinical Pathology'; information is provided here.

A statement on the fungal burden of disease and the need for qualified centers and personnel was adopted by the World Medical Association (WMA) at its General Assembly in Fortaleza, Brazil. The Statement and further information can be found here.

A position for an experienced postdoc in proteomics and one in fungal physiology are available at the CBS Fungal Biodiversity Centre in Utrecht, The Netherlands. For information and application, see here, and here.
