The ISHAM Eumycetoma Working Group managed to get mycetoma listed
as an “other condition” on the WHO website of Neglected Tropical
Diseases. The Sudanese delegation is organizing a side meeting during
the World Health Assembly (WHA)
in Geneva, Switzerland, on Friday evening 23 May, 2014. We need help of health organization officers in endemic areas to approach their
Ministry to have political high-level participation to this WHA meeting.

ISHAM
welcomes a new Working Group on Medical Phycology, focusing on
Protothecosis and Chlorellosis. For information, click at the website here.
Participation in the working group is open to any scientist and clinician who
is interested to join this international network on the area of Medical
Phycology. Applications may be sent to Rui Kano. |
The
ISHAM Working Group on Barcoding of Medical Fungi had a successful
meeting in Utrecht, The Netherlands, last April. A short report, many of the

We would like to draw your attention to a new database on ITS
barcoding from the ISHAM Working Group Barcoding Medical Fungi and
available at the University of Sydney
website.
In contrast to much material on GenBank, the sequences in this database have
been validated according to the latest state of taxonomy. |

A new journal Advances in
Medical Mycology has been launched, as an official publication of the
Iranian Society of Medical Mycology (ISMM) and the Invasive Fungi Research
Center (IFRC). The journal focuses on original and innovative studies of all
aspects of medical mycology. This publication is an international quarterly
peer review journal which is aimed to promote communication among researchers
worldwide. This is the website. |
