Overview
The working group has a special interest in genomic, proteomic and physiological traits that define the virulence, and the host- fungus interaction, of the causative agents of sporotrichosis. In addition, the working group seeks to study the phylogeny of Sporothrix species.
Achievements
Since the start of the working group in 2011, we have included new researchers and improved the collaborative work across those already part of the WG.
The working group will organise the next international meeting on Sporothrix and Sporotrichosis to be held on September 11-12th, 2017, in Guanajuato, Mexico. The University of Guanajuato will be the venue for the meeting. Invited speakers from Europe, Asia and Latin America will cover aspects of the biology and genomics of the new pathogenic species, S. brasiliensis and S. globosa as well as S. schenckii sensu stricto.
The working group also plans to organise a symposium at the next ISHAM Congress in 2018
